WORKSHOP RECAP — The Craft Of Calligraphy

In July, we were honoured to host a workshop in our beautiful showroom at Made[LAB] Paris, led by the renowned calligrapher Édouard Dupont, founder of Atelier Pleins & Déliés.

Entitled The Craft Of Calligraphy, the workshop revolved around five guiding themes — Curiosity, Matter, Gesture, Escape, and Attention. Exploring the art of handwritten letterform, Édouard presented it as a highly personal gesture that embodies craft and luxury, creating a deeply meaningful and unique customer experience.

Édouard also shared a rare look into his portfolio and spoke about his experiences as a calligrapher, from training as an engraver at École Estienne to working with luxury brands and clients such as Chanel, Château Lafite Rothschild, Piaget, Parfums Christian Dior, Lalique, Carita, Montblanc, and Antalis.

To conclude, guests were invited to take a closer, hands-on look at Édouard's work, experiencing projects for clients such as Van Cleef & Arpels, Piaget, and Hermès, as well as a beautiful bespoke wedding guest book. Each attendee also received a custom handwritten badge created by Édouard as a memento of the session.

The evening ended with a selection of complementary drinks and a table of fine Italian food, an informal gathering where guests were able to ask Édouard further questions about his craft — ranging from technical questions about types of inks, pens, and papers to Édouard’s personal preferences on materials and writing styles.

Finishing the night, Édouard reflected:

"The exchange after the talk was really enriching. Curious, engaged guests and the connections between them are a real gift. This format is bold, and I hope it's the start of a beautiful journey."
