'The Soul Never Dies' is a limited-edition book commissioned by Juxta Press in homage to the multidisciplinary artist Mariko Mori. A work of art focused around ‘light’, this piece uses no ink on the cover, but is instead covered with blind-embossed images and writings, and housed in a precious clamshell box.
The book uses the tape-binding technique, with pearly fabric tape, embellished with micro-glitter and with screen printing on the spine. Made with soft Japanese paper, the cover showcases a three-dimensional blind-embossed circular pattern, a signature design of Mori. The concept of ‘light’ is further expressed by the paper's transparency —enhanced by the heat of the embossing press— while inside is printed with soft pastel hues, and inserts of translucent sheets delicately imprinted with a silver Pantone. 'The Soul Never Dies' is a tactile and visual journey, offering a glimpse into the ethereal world of Mariko Mori's artistry.
