'The Soul Never Dies' is a limited-edition book commissioned by Juxta Press in homage to the multidisciplinary artist Mariko Mori. A work of art focused around ‘light’, this piece uses no ink on the cover, but is instead covered with blind-embossed images and writings, and housed in a precious clamshell box.
The book uses the tape-binding technique, with pearly fabric tape, embellished with micro-glitter and with screen printing on the spine. Made with soft Japanese paper, the cover showcases a three-dimensional blind-embossed circular pattern, a signature design of Mori. The concept of ‘light’ is further expressed by the paper's transparency — enhanced by the heat of the embossing press — while inside is printed with soft pastel hues, and inserts of translucent sheets delicately imprinted with a silver Pantone. 'The Soul Never Dies' is a tactile and visual journey, offering a glimpse into the ethereal world of Mariko Mori's artistry.
